MT Database Corruption

Hello,
Today the weblogs.us database became corrupted when I was attempting to migrate our MT setup to use MySQL as our database backend. The purpose of the migration was to improve Weblogs.us performance. Somewhere along the way the database became corrupted and I had to restore a backup from yesterday afternoon.

How this affects you:
Please be aware that changes you made to your blog since Saturday Dec 13 2:27PM CST will not be in the weblogs.us Movable Type database. However, any entries you made and rebuilt WILL be visible on your domain, i.e. http://yourdomain.weblogs.us UNTIL you rebuild!

What this means is that the next time you press “rebuild” on your site, any entries which you made between 2:27PM 13-Dec-2003 and 2:48PM 14-Dec-2003 CST will be overwritten.

What you can do to save your entries made yesterday and today:

The manual restore process is as follows:

1) go to http://yourdomain.weblogs.us
2) find the entry you made
3) copy and paste the text from your entry to create a NEW entry
(repeat step 3 for all entries made between 2:27PM 13-12-2003 and 2:48PM 14-12-2003 CST)
4) make sure all your entries have been manually restored
5) rebuild your sire

Please note:
None of this should affect your entries made before 2:27PM, December 13th, the only entries were lost were those that weren’t in our backed up data.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and I am now implementing hourly backups to prevent this from occurring again.

If you have questions or concerncs please do not hesitate to respond to this email at http://status.weblogs.us/

Respectfully,
J.D.
